Kayak Lake Kivu

Lake Kivu runs for 100 km along Rwanda’s western border with the Congo and is Africa’s highest lake at 1 460 m. It is also one of the deepest bodies of fresh water in the world and one of the enormous East African Great Lakes that line the Great Rift Valley.

Enjoy a relaxing kayak trip on the tranquil surface of the lake while gazing dreamily over the surrounding hills and mountains, covered in terraces of banana plantations. The water is clean and clear, and the irregular shoreline creates sandy beaches to be explored. Little islands can be reached to do some birdwatching.
