Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is something of a haven of serenity, set on a range of remote hills in one of Zimbabwe’s finest wilderness locations. With the Zambezi escarpment as its backdrop and overlooking the eternal shimmering waters of Lake Kariba below, it is utterly captivating. Game viewing opportunities are plentiful, with animals roaming freely between Matusadona National Park, Bumi Hills private concession and the alluring Lake Kariba.
The lodge consists of ten stylish suites, each with spectacular and uninterrupted vistas of the lake and its surrounds. The interiors have been beautifully finished in a fusion of contemporary western and African styles, which give Bumi Hills the feel of a secret African Riviera.
It also has its own 2-bedroomed private villa, the Baobab Villa, complete with its own living room bar, indoor and outdoor dining decks, a private butler, safari guide and vehicle.
At centre stage of the lodge is the beautiful infinity pool that blends effortlessly into the lake horizon. From here you can enjoy the intimate wine and dining terrace, and marvel at the fiery golden sunset over Lake Kariba.

There is no age restriction at Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, however children under the age of 16 are not able to do walking safaris. Should they wish, guided bush walks around the camp are possible.

Zambezi Expeditions offers one of the best ways to experience Mana Pools on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River. The 12-bed luxury mobile camp comprises of 6 twin-bed mini-meru style tents with en-suite bathroom facilities including flush toilets and al fresco bucket showers. The camp gives luxury camping a new definition by virtue of its simple yet elegant and comfortable furnishings. A 6-bedded camp consisting of three tents can be set up for a single group on special request.
The camp has a minimum stay of two nights for a minimum of two people and is the perfect combination to include with Kanga Camp for an overall riverside and inland experience. Activities include game drives, walking safaris, canoeing safaris, fishing and birdwatching.

Nyamatusi is African Bush Camps’ third in Mana Pools National Park and located in the Nyamatusi Wilderness area. The park itself exudes a feeling of beauty and untouched wilderness. Mana Pools offers a diversity of different wildlife and bird species, including the endangered and rare wild dog. The Zambezi River itself is famous for its large concentrations of hippos and crocodiles.
Nyamatusi Camp is a representation of the surrounding environment. The camp is reminiscent of days gone by and is inspired by nature. Nyamatusi comprises of six spacious and well-appointed tents, each with its own private deck and plunge pool, offering remote views overlooking the Zambezi.

Kanga Camp is situated in a private concession within the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mana Pools National Park. Famous for their walking safaris, guests can experience Mana Pools’ rich vegetation and predator sightings, which include lion and the rare and endangered wild dog. The camp itself overlooks Kanga Pan, which is an essential water supply for a multitude of different wildlife and bird species during the dry season. This means that the surrounding wildlife frequently visit the pans for a leisurely drink. Six traditional canvas tents are placed on a raised wooden deck, each with their own exclusive views overlooking the pan. The tents are elegantly designed with subtle wooden furnishings, floor-to-ceiling mesh netting and come with all the essential amenities.
During the rainy season, the pan overflows with water and for this reason Kanga Camp is only open from April until December. This time period offers the ultimate safari experience. And, because the camp is situated in a private concession there are no other safari vehicles.
Activities and experiences include walking safaris, morning and afternoon game drives, the famous armchair safaris in the dry season, and a photographic hide for both amateur and professional photographers to enjoy.

Whilst Zimbabwe doesn’t have any endemics, it’s still great for birdwatching and particularly so during the rains (October – March) as then food is plentiful, migrants are around and many species are in breeding plumage. Specialities include the rare Angola pitta (or “African Pitta”) and the Taita Falcon.
