Overview

Route 62, through the scenic Klein Karoo, is a spectacular alternative to the coastal N2 road along the Garden Route. With fantastically beautiful and warm weather most year around, the country atmosphere, coastal village charm and seclusion of conservation reserves, adults and children will delight in the opportunity to be outdoors with plenty of opportunity to play and have fun.

A variety of different agricultural (and viticulture) industries can be seen all along the route. From ostriches – the worlds’ biggest birds – to famous vineyards and olive plantations. Spectacular encounters with African wildlife include cheeky penguins, bats, big and small game, whales, creatures in rock pools and on beaches and endangered Cape Vultures.

Impressive landscapes of Cape Point, eye-catching views from Table Mountain, the Breede River, De Hoop Vlei, delicate Fynbos, and steep rock walls provide ideal settings for picnics, hikes, mountain-biking and relaxing boat cruises. Historic rock art, safari programmes for kids and a frog-inhabited dam will keep the children busy for hours, while an underground wine cellar, rock-climbing and arts and crafts will entertain adults.
