Elewana Kilindi

The Zanzibar archipelago in Tanzania is made up of numerous islands and islets. It is synonymous with images of pristine white sandy beaches and alluring azure waters. The luxury boutique hotel Kilindi Zanzibar comprises a series of white-domed Pavilion guest rooms set in a picturesque tropical garden with its own secluded beachfront. Originally designed for Benny Andersson, of ABBA fame, it is the perfect marriage between Scandinavian minimalism and the dramatic architectural overtones of Middle Eastern heritage, whilst encouraging an open, “back-to-nature” ambiance throughout.

The 15 luxurious, eastern-styled domed Pavilion Suites embrace wide-arched glassless windows affording spectacular views over the Indian Ocean. This same openness allows the gentle ocean breeze to waft throughout each of the rooms and carry with it the delightful soundtrack of Kilindi’s colourful birdlife. Each villa has its own private plunge pool, a separate and extraordinary “rainfall” shower room, and each pavilion is tended to by its own Guest Ambassador.

A “waterfall” bar is found in the main pavilion and overlooks a large 25-metre infinity pool. Dining takes place either on the al fresco terrace or along the pristine white beach which runs the length of the property.
