Lake Kivu Serena Hotel is serenely situated on the sandy shores of the beautiful Lake Kivu, on the outskirts of the city of Gisenyi, on the western edge of Rwanda. Lake Kivu is Rwanda’s largest lake, and the sixth largest lake in Africa.
The hotel prides itself on its astonishingly beautiful location with sparkling waters, extensive tropical gardens and a private stretch of beach reserved exclusively for hotel guests. The resort has 66 en-suite rooms which are air-conditioned and each has its own private balcony. There are Superior Rooms, Family Rooms and Executive Suites to choose from.
Why we like it here
The rooms have modern amenities which include satellite television, Wi-Fi access, in-room safe, mini bar (suites only) and tea/coffee-making facilities.
There is a range of activities to choose from including kayaking, canoeing, massage services, a fitness centre, swimming, catamaran sailing, beach volleyball, windsurfing and boating on the lake.
Kiyaga Restaurant offers table d’hôte as well as themed dinners.
All ages are welcome at the resort.
The Lake Kivu Serena is the most comfortable option along the shores of the lake.
Things to be aware of
It is a large, international-style hotel with a range of facilities and activities, and not suitable for those looking for a boutique style hotel.
