Elewana Loisaba Star-Beds

Loisaba is a private wildlife conservancy in Kenya and a prime example of successful collaboration between conservation, community, ranching and tourism. The area is abundant in wildlife, including elephant, a healthy population of lion and the rare wild dog. The landscape is beautiful with rivers, forests, springs, valleys and open plains.

The four individual Loisaba Star-beds are found poised on a rocky “kopje” (hill), commanding sweeping views over an undulating valley and a permanent waterhole which attracts the resident wildlife. Three of the rooms are en-suite double rooms, while the fourth room is an en-suite Family Room, with two double beds pushed out onto separate platforms

The design of the rooms is rustic in order to best blend into the surrounding environment. Each thatched “room” has a four-poster wooden bed, which has been handcrafted to add to the harmonious effect. There is a sitting area and an open-to-air bathroom with a view. This includes a plumbed shower offering piping hot solar-heated water, a basin and flush toilet. Each night, the bed is rolled out in order that guests get to sleep under the endless African sky – a truly authentic experience.
