One&Only Gorilla’s Nest
Cushioned in the foothills of Rwanda’s breathtaking Virunga volcano range, lies the newly opened ultimate ultra-luxury resort, One&Only Gorilla’s Nest (August 2019). Located 5 minutes from Volcanoes National Park, guests are perfectly situated to set off on a once-in-a-lifetime excursion, to witness the rare and majestic mountain gorilla roaming free in its natural habitat. Guest rooms and suites have a warm interior, brought to life through the rich timbers used throughout and the vibrant colours that reflect Rwandan traditions. The age-old Rwandan art form of Imigongo, typically white, black and red geometric patterns, is embraced in a contemporary way throughout.
The Resort has 21 guest lodges and suites, all surrounded by the dramatic eucalyptus tree forest and volcanoes beyond, and all include a personal refreshment station, built in wardrobes, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and TV. These are broken down into 10 Forest King Lodges (77 m²), 4 Two-Bedroom Forest Lodges (87 m² – perfect for families), 5 Virunga Suites (147 m²), 1 Ingagi Suite (251 m²) and 1 Silverback Suite (409 m²) (note the square meterage is inclusive of indoor and outdoor living space).
