andBeyond Benguerra Island
Benguerra is the second largest island of Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago and is characterised by its towering sand dunes, inland lakes and idyllic beaches. Guests staying at &Beyond Benguerra Island have exceptional opportunities to explore some of the very best of Mozambique’s magnificent marine life. It is a tropical paradise and the quintessential luxury island retreat. Accommodation is set among swaying palm trees, and consists of ten casinhas and two cabanas. The colour scheme is light and airy and combines tropical chic with a distinct African feel with touches of the area’s Portuguese heritage.
These include four-poster beds with white linen canopies, comfortable day beds, large windows with dark wooden shutters, private timber decks and cool plunge pools. Bathrooms feature generous tubs and al fresco showers decorated with hand-painted tiles. A shaded gazebo provides the ideal venue for starlit dinners. The three-bedroom Casa Familia ensures privacy and exclusivity, and is ideal for families or groups (maximum of 4 adults and 4 children). Set in its own secluded garden and mere metres from the beach, it consists of three bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, as well as a private swimming pool. The main shared areas have a colourful dhow-inspired bar, a swimming pool, a stylish dining room and an open lounge – both boasting wide, sunny decks.
