Botswana’s Okavango Delta lies like a sparkling jewel at the heart of the Kalahari Desert, with its maze of sparkling lagoons, meandering channels and overgrown islands teeming with wildlife. It is here that the &Beyond Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge lies – set in a cool forest canopy of wild palms and gnarled fig trees. Situated on a private concession, Sandibe has exclusive traversing rights over 22 500 hectares (55 600 acres) of wildlife land adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve. Inspired by the serene and breathtaking landscapes surrounding the lodge, it’s easy to see how the organic architecture took form.
Twelve elegant and intimate suites (including a family suite) are raised above the papyrus like the nests of golden weaver birds with magnificent views over the Delta. Each suite has a private plunge pool, a cosy fireplace and secluded nooks. Botswana craft is celebrated here and evident with pieces that include copper-clad mekoro, basketware and sculpted wooden tables.

Things to be aware of
Drones are not permitted at &Beyond’s Reserves, lodges, camps or villas.
Regrettably this lodge has no wheelchair access.
The lodge is not fenced off and guests need to be extremely vigilant at all times. Security guards accompany guests at all times when walking around the lodge at night.
Children are welcome, however children 5 years and younger cannot participate in game drives or nature walks; children aged 6 to 11 can participate in game drives at the lodge manager’s discretion; children aged 12 and over can participate in games drives and children aged 16 and over can participate in nature walks.
